How to change your e-mail settings to use the SMTP Authentication system for sending e-mails using SSL in Outlook 98/2000 or Outlook Express 1. Launch Outlook 2. Locate your omf.net account by clicking on the Tools Menu and selecting Accounts. 3. You will then see this Internet Accounts dialog box:
5. You will now see the Properties dialog box:
6. Click on the Servers tab as shown above. You will now see the following:
7. Click in the box next to Account name and
change the entry to lastnamefirstname.omf.net 7a If you have changed your password you should enter your new password in the box next to Password 8 Now click in the box next to the words Incoming mail (POP3) and change the entry to securemail.megamailservers.com 9 Now click in the box next to the words Outgoing mail (SMTP) and change the entry to securemail.megamailservers.com 10. Now click in the box next to the words My server requires authentication and a tick will appear as shown:
11 Click on Settings and you should see the following is shown:
(If the setting Use same settings as my incoming mail server is not selected, please select it.) 12 Click on OK 13 Click on the Advanced tab and you should see the following
13a Click the two checkboxes next to the words This server requires a secure connection (SSL). One checkbox is underneath the line saying Outgoing mail (SMTP) and the other checkbox is underneath the line saying Incoming mail (POP3). 13b Click in the box next to the words Incoming mail (POP3) and change the number to 995 14 Click OK and then click Close 15 You have now completed the changes. To make sure everything is working send yourself an e-mail and see if you receive it. |
